Every day, restaurants, hotels, events, and other food-service organizations have surplus food that may still be suitable for consumption, while many people and communities face food insecurity. A major challenge is the lack of efficient coordination between organizations with surplus food and NGOs or community groups that can distribute it.
Currently, finding a suitable organization, sharing donation details, checking quantity and urgency, and coordinating pickup can be time-consuming. This can result in delays, missed donation opportunities, and unnecessary food waste.
Our project aims to address this gap by creating a platform that connects food donors with suitable NGOs, using information such as food type, quantity, location, and urgency to support faster and more effective food-rescue coordination.
